The Social Jar #5 – TikTok Stories, Olympics, Twitter Blue

It’s back! After a three-week hiatus, your favourite social media podcast returns. In episode 5 of The Social Jar, Dan, Andreas, and Ryan bring you all of the latest from the online world following the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

A lot has happened since the boys last dived into the jar. TikTok ‘Stories’ have entered beta phase, an incredible Olympics has been and gone, and details of Twitter’s new subscription service, ‘Blue’, have continued to emerge.

Stories have been a recurring topic of conversation on The Social Jar. Features of many different platforms are being consistently replicated by their competitors. Stories are one of the most commonly attempted, as the ‘copycat’ nature of social media reigns supreme. The guys have frequently discussed whether this is good for the industry or not.

However, as Andreas promised on Twitter, the boys give TikTok’s take on the temporary posts a fair trial. The platform also gets a lot of credit on the show for its amazing BTS content that athletes posted from the Tokyo Olympics.

Episode 5 is available on all popular podcast streaming platforms. It is live on BuzzsproutSpotify, and Apple Podcasts. Also, there is also a video version on YouTube.
