The study, conducted by the Consumer Technology Association, found that US consumers now spend almost as much time streaming videos on social platforms as they do watching television.

YouTube’s decade-long dominance, combined with the rise of TikTok and its equivalents, has seen user-generated content come to rule the internet. It’s remarkable to see that its popularity is such that it now rivals a true pillar of modern entertainment - standard television. But should its upward trajectory continue, what does this mean for TV? Has social media video truly killed television?
