Here at Uni4m, we love seeing brands come to life. Design projects that allow us to create logos, colour pallets, typefaces and brand guidelines for super-exciting clients are some of our favourite projects to work on.

So, when Uni4m was approached by Love Bubble Tea, a start-up bubble tea brand looking to open its first-ever store in Dartford, Kent, we couldn’t wait to get to work.

The Client

LBT needed a complete package to provide a holistic identity to their up-and-coming business. What made Love Bubble Tea unique was that they didn’t want to market their product as a treat, or their store as a once-a-week hangout spot – they wanted their take on bubble tea to rival coffee shops, where all kinds of people frequent for a variety of different reasons. Their ambition is to make bubble tea a mainstream option.

It was also a dive into a totally new industry for Uni4m. Despite our varied and wide-reaching client base, it offered the first-ever opportunity to dive into the world of food and drink – specifically, the emerging bubble tea industry.

The Objective

Uni4m was tasked with creating a brand package that was fun, appealing, and contemporary, but also one that could embody a brand that Love Bubble Tea hoped would become a staple of people’s day-to-day lives.

With that in mind, LBT wanted to avoid the oriental themes that many bubble tea brands embody, due to the drink’s origins in eastern Asia. Instead, they wanted their product – and its branding – to let customers know that their take on bubble tea was for everybody; whether you’re an avid bubble tea fan or someone intrigued to try a tasty new beverage.

It was also important that the final product could work in a variety of situations, either on a shop front, a transparent cup, a poster, or even on merchandise. It would have to be instantly recognisable in all formats.

The Plan

After a dedicated and thorough planning process, which saw our aim to truly embrace the personality of the brand vision, Uni4m began carefully selecting themes and colour sets that we felt embodied an exciting brand philosophy.

We also identified with the word ‘Love’, feeling it was suited to become the focal point of what we produced, as it embodied exactly how they wanted their customers to connect with the product.

It was important to us that the logo felt timeless and ‘funky’. If other bubble tea brands were looking to the drinks’ origins for inspiration, we at Uni4m wanted to look to the future. With vibrance, youthfulness and key iconography set to be at the heart of the design, we set about our work.

The Outcome

After presenting a series of potential options to LBT, they settled on the above. We’re really proud of it! It is a modern, slick, and versatile logo that reflects a company that we believe is going to have a real impact.

It also transferred beautifully to a brandmark: A simpler version of the logo featuring three icons that each represented ‘Love’, ‘Bubble’ and ‘Tea’. Both were supplied to Love Bubble Tea along with comprehensive brand guidelines, that detailed all aspects of the company’s branded appearance and how it should be represented in a variety of scenarios.

It was a pleasure to be entrusted and so involved with the formation of such an exciting company.
